This series is about contrast, quite literally, with light and dark. Also, it examines how shadows contort and change with the object they are being cast upon. The challenge with painting on wood is that if you make a mistake, there’s no painting the canvas back to wood; if you make a mistake, you’re stuck with it. Working on wood allows me to treat a painting much like I would an illustration, but with a different medium.
